Calling all you creatives!

For a little while now Helen, the director of O3 Gallery and I have been developing a series of events to bring the creative community of Oxford together. We have recently been able to join forces with the lottery funded Need Make Use team at the Pitt Rivers Museum and as a result 'Crafty Networking' has been born.

The idea of these events is to bring together anyone with a creative interest together to meet and mingle. We like to think of it as a melting pot of skills and ideas with inspiration a plenty. We would love you to join us, whether you are a practicing artist, are working in a creative profession, or are interested in developing your creative career.

To kick off the event illustrator Phillip J Jones will talk about his own practice and experience. Please have of read of the information below and the Pitt Rivers Museum events page, and I hope to see you there!

Susan Crawford's back in town!

Remember last November, when Susan Crawford came to town? Following the roaring success of that visit, we are knitted up with excitement to announce two very special weekends.

Treat yourself to some quality time in Susan’s company and master the art of knitting from vintage patterns, or learn how to knit Fair Isle in Pinwork’s cosy workshop space above Darn It & Stitch.

Vintage Knitting: Saturday 6th April 10 - 4pm & Sunday 7th April 11 - 3.30 pm - £99pp*
Bring along a vintage pattern and Susan will help you bring it to life!

Day One
We’ll be introducing you to the ways and wonders of vintage patterns. You will learn how to interpret and adjust old patterns to modern body measurements. Then, we’ll talk about yarn: choosing, swatching and adjusting the pattern accordingly.

Day Two
We’ll be getting stuck into the pattern of your choice, and you will leave with a perfect, customized vintage pattern to knit from - hurray!

Fair Isle Knitting: Saturday 11th May 10 - 4pm & Sunday 12th May 11- 4pm - £99pp*

Day One
We’ll start off with a little bit about the history of this amazing tradition before moving on to basic techniques and how to follow a Fair Isle pattern. We’ll talk about working in the round and putting colours together.... and then we’ll start putting it all to practise.

Day Two
We’ll be unravelling the bewildering world of steeking and will look at how to create the perfect finish.
Building on experience from the previous day you will be working steeks (knitted, and wrapped) and will learn how to secure and cut your knitting. You’ll find out how to pick up bands and lastly, how to finish off a fair isle garment... phew! That’s quite a weekend!

*Includes a light lunch and refreshments on both days.

Places will go swiftly so give us a buzz now on the Pinworks hot line 01865 366 378 to book your place.
Full payment must be made at the time of booking. Please read our T & C’s before booking your place.

Don’t be a stranger - we’d love to hear from you!
